Deep Roots

Do you see all those roots beneath the tree?

The tree grew many, many deep roots. You can’t see it, but this tree is on the banks of the Green River.

How often do we pass trees and not consider what is beneath them?

Or wonder what is holding them up and sustaining them?

The tree has stood steady because it received what it needed for years and years all the while facing the elements. Although, we would have never seen its roots if it weren’t for weathering and erosion.

Christian, grow many deep roots.

Be like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season (read all of Psalm 1 like do it right now). Think about what Jesus said about the two men who built their houses on different foundations. It isn’t a matter of “if” the storm is coming, but “when” the storm is coming. The elements will bring about weathering and erosion, and one-day people will see your roots too.
